Completed Wind Projects

Klondike Phase II

Image of a wind farm.
This wind farm is located east of Wasco, Ore. near Klondike, Ore. The expansion cover several hundred acres and added 50 1.5 MW GE wind turbines. BPA provided metering and communications at Klondike School House Substation (KSHS) for phase II. The wind project was energized in July 2005.

For Phase II, PPM Energy added another 75 MW at the Klondike Wind Farm site, expanding the existing Klondike School House substation. Wasco Electric Co-op built a new 115 kilovolt line from Klondike Schoolhouse substation (KSHS) to BPA’s DeMoss substation (completed September 2002) as part of the Klondike Phase II expansion.

At the DeMoss Substation, BPA provided a control house expansion, relays, SCADA and other upgrades and radio communications to Wasco radio station. Also at DeMoss, WEC built a 115-kV breaker position adjacent to the DeMoss substation and reconnected the KSHS to a new tap to the Big Eddy-DeMoss 115-kV transmission just outside DeMoss substation.
