Leaning Juniper (Arlington PPM) Interconnection
Leaning Juniper Wind Power LLC has submitted a generation interconnection request to BPA to integrate up to 200 megawatts (MW) of power generated from the Arlington PPM Wind Project in Gilliam County, Ore. to the Federal Columbia River Transmission System (FCRTS).
Interconnection required BPA to build a new 230-kilovolt (kV) switching station called Jones Canyon substation and connect to the McNary-Santiam 230-kV transmission line approximately two miles south of the town of Arlington, Ore.
Schedule
Construction was completed on the Jones Canyon substation in July 2006. PPM began commercial operation of the first 100 MW in 2006. The second phase to integrate the remaining 100 MW is scheduled for completion in 2007. A tiered Record of Decision under the Business Plan Environmental Impact Statement was issued in January 2005. As a result of the tiered ROD, BPA offered contract terms for interconnection of 200 MW of power from the wind project into the FCRTS.
