Mercury-arc valves will be removed, disassembled and disposed of hazardous waste in disposal sites. Project Manager Litzenberger in the new Group 6 valve hall. Group 6 thyristor valves. Contracting company putting in the foundation for the Converter 1 and 2 cooling building.  Behind is the Columbia River and The Dalles Converter 1 and 2 cooling building under construction.  There is also a new cooling building for Converter 3 and 4.
Celilo modernization includes work in the outdoor yard, where equipment no longer needed is being taken out and replaced with new equipment. Construction crew installing a footing for a new bypass disconnect switch. Members of the construction crew remove a current divider from one of the old Mercury-arc valves. BPA electricians disassembling a Mercury-arc valve. BPA electricians assembling one of the new Siemens light-triggered thyristor valves.
BPA Riggers await as one of the air handlers is lowered to the roof of the Group six valve hall. The Heli-jet helicopter lifts one of the air handlers from the Celilo parking lot. The Heli-jet helicopter carries the air handler out and around the yard to the south side of Celilo, in order to ensure Celilo yard equipment would not be damaged. BPA riggers guiding the air handler into place.  The air handlers will be moved inside the building when the old air handlers are dismantled, removed.
