Sharing Internship Experiences

Jerry Jackson II

Jerry L Jackson II - Student Trainee (Electrical Engineering)
North Carolina A&T State University

In the summer of 2002 I started my BPA career. As a Portland, Ore. native it never crossed my mind that I would one day work for BPA. A close friend referred me and about three months later I was fortunate to be offered a position.

Since then I’ve worked with the Ross System Protection Control group. Here I have performed meter test programs and have worked to become familiar with BPA transmission line system. I’ve worked with Advanced Systems for Power Engineering which is a program that simulates faults in the system.

One thing I love about the group is the mixture of office and fieldwork. The small group allows one-on-one communication to make sure we work as a team.

I attended Grant High School and currently I am a proud graduating senior at North Carolina A&T State University located in Greensboro, NC., “AGGIE PRIDE!” After graduating I plan to continue my education by going to graduate school in either engineering or business and eventually become an entrepreneur. I would like to be in a position where I am making a positive influence and difference amongst my peers and community. I also have aspirations to become fluent in Spanish.

In my free time I enjoy running, weightlifting, playing cards, traveling, movies, and reading. I’m excited about starting my career and feel that I am truly blessed to work with such wonderful people in an excellent culture.
